Our history
Mark Shaw became interested in a career as a funeral director while still at school. As organist for a local church, he got to know the local funeral directors while playing for funerals and realised the significance and importance of their work.
He then went on to do work experience with a private firm and after leaving school went into full time work within the profession. After a few years out of the profession to study business at Aberdeen University, he also worked for a time in a solictors office dealing with Wills and Estates. Mark then returned to work as a funeral director.
He has worked for both private and multinational firms around Scotland and also for a time in the Midlands. During this time he has gained a great deal of experience in providing a sensitive and complete service to the bereaved and has worked in a wide range of circumstances.
In 2004 he fulfilled his ambition to be self employed as a funeral director, setting up his firm in Aberdeen. Since setting up the firm, he has found great sattisfaction in having the complete freedom to offer bereaved clients what they need and want without the constraints imposed by large firms.
The reputation of the his firm is developing as the high level of service given gets known.
As well as offering a funeral service to the bereaved he is also contracted to Grampian Police to provide funeral directors services to the force on occasions when the police are involved with sudden deaths.
Mark is supported in the firm by a number of experienced people who assist with all aspects of the business.
in 2005, Mark was awarded the SAIF Community Award in recognition of the time he had spent giving accordion concerts to a number of local groups and clubs during the year. In 2007, he was named as Golden Charter's Scottish Funeral Planner of the year.
